Liwonde in particular is one of the most recent conservation success stories thanks to its successful reintroduction of lion, cheetah and rhino.

Thanks to Lake Malawi, the country can also offer a barefoot island beach experience, and trust us when we say 'it is epic'.

Malawi's culture is a blend of traditional African customs, colonial influences, and modern innovations, making it a fascinating and vibrant destination to explore. Beyond the national parks and the sea-like lake, you can visit tea and coffee plantations, hike Mount Mulanje and marvel at the landscapes of the Nyika Plateau. ## Time your visit with Malawi’s seasons

Broadly speaking, Malawi has two seasons: dry and green. The dry season is from May to October. Within this, May to August is a cooler time of year with bright sunshine and fresh evenings.

Temperatures start to rise in September and remain high throughout the rainy season, which runs from November to April. The heaviest rains are often in December, January and February.

## When to go

Because of Malawi's varied landscape, regional variations in weather are significant. The lower lying lake shore areas are warmer all year round, while temperatures in the highlands are refreshingly cool in the day with chilly evenings; particularly in winter.
