## Headline

Garden of Eden meets Jurassic Park

Tucked away off the west coast of Africa, you'd be forgiven for never having heard of São Tomé and Príncipe - and that is exactly why it is worth exploring. The smaller island of Príncipe is a portal to a forgotten time. The relics of Portuguese rule are slowly being absorbed back into the island's jungles. This is a haven of remote beaches, sea adventures and chocolate.

## The paradise islands you've never heard of.

São Tomé and Príncipe are a pair of wonderful islands far, far away from any 'beaten-track'. The wildlife, beaches, culture and hospitality of this tiny country are simply outstanding and, if you are in search of a remote destination that is completely disconnected from the modern world, this is it.

The landscape of the Príncipe island is incredibly dramatic with thick forest reaching right down to the sea. Walking trails wind through these primeval rainforests giving you an unforgettable sense of nature.

## Country profile

Officially named the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, this is an island state located in the Gulf of Guinea. It consists of two main islands (São Tomé and Príncipe) and several smaller islands, with a total area of around 1001 km² and 160 thousand inhabitants.

Don't miss the chance to watch sea turtles nesting and hatching. The turtle season has two periods, the nesting from October to January and the hatching from December to April. Alternatively, time your visit to see humpback whales on their migration route from June to August, and dolphins throughout the year.

The Bonamy team worked extremely hard to make sure we had an unforgettable honeymoon. The team took a lot of time to understand exactly what we wanted, and then put in a huge amount of effort in to the design and planning of the trip.

## Plan your trip with São Tomé and Príncipe's seasons

For most travellers, a trip to São Tomé and Príncipe is about time relaxing on the beach.

The typical weather patterns of the islands follows the same rules as equatorial Africa: There are two dry and two green seasons with the temperatures remaining fairly stable throughout the year.

If you are hoping to see the turtle nesting season a trip in November to early February is perfect.
