A secluded retreat on Malawi’s Nyika Plateau, Chelinda Lodge offers cosy log cabins, breathtaking highland views, and unforgettable wilderness adventures.

## Profile

Perched high on the rolling hills of Malawi's Nyika Plateau, Chelinda Lodge offers a unique blend of alpine charm and African wilderness.

Its eight log cabins, constructed from local timber and stone, provide a cosy retreat with private fireplaces, spacious en-suite bathrooms, and balconies that open up to panoramic vistas of the montane grasslands.

The lodge's main area features a large deck - perfect for soaking in the expansive views - and a comfortable lounge equipped with an extensive library, inviting guests to unwind after a day of exploration.

## Profile

At an elevation of approximately 2,300 meters, Chelinda Lodge is enveloped by a landscape reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, yet distinctly African. Embark on guided hikes, game drives, and mountain biking adventures across the plateau, encountering wildlife such as zebra, eland, and the elusive leopard.

Evenings at the lodge are marked by the crisp, cool climate of the highlands, where guests gather around crackling fires, sharing stories and savouring the tranquillity of this secluded haven.

## Activities list

Explore ancient forests, untouched streams, and breathtaking landscapes on foot. For the adventurous, a three-day trek follows David Livingstone’s historic route - ending in Livingstonia with sweeping views over Lake Malawi.

Discover Nyika’s incredible wildlife, rolling plains, waterfalls, and forests on a half or full-day game drive in a closed safari vehicle - picnic included, of course.

As darkness falls, head out in search of hyenas, servals, leopards, and rare nocturnal birds. A stop at the airstrip for a stargazing experience under an unpolluted African sky is a must.

With gravel roads and rolling hills, Nyika is perfect for biking. Grab a mountain bike and explore the best routes with an easy-to-follow flip-card guide.

Try your luck casting for rainbow trout in Nyika’s crystal-clear dams, originally stocked in the 1960s. If you catch one, it might just end up on your plate for lunch or dinner!
