Luxury tented safari camp perched on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater

## Profile

Entamanu Ngorongoro is perched high on the wild side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, a thoughtfully designed refuge in this elemental place, from which to explore the unique highland environment in which it sits. Surrounded by the soaring peaks of dormant volcanic hills and the ebb and flow of Maasai pastoralist life, this is a place to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of the main tourist trail at the Crater. Not only to visit the Crater, but to understand it as part of a wider environment.

## Profile

Seven large en-suite tents, two of which are family units made cosy with heaters, warm textiles and sheepskin look across the iconic Crater view, with a backdrop of ancient acacia trees. The style here is as unique as the location - everything carefully handcrafted locally to the highest standard.

There’s nothing tame about this location – the high altitude sun has some real heat and the wind can be biting and sometimes noisy. Nomad Tanzania have taken up the challenge to create a camp that makes the most of the extraordinary view while providing warmth and shelter from the elements, while being entirely removable. Every design detail has been considered in light of this, while still providing comfort in this elemental place.

#### REMOTE CRATER

Entamanu Ngorongoro sits on the remote Northwestern corner of the Crater rim, accessed via it's own road that
offers spectacular views down over the Southern Serengeti and over the Rim to the immensity of the Crater below. Nomad were adamant
when they chose to nest at the Crater that it would be in a place where it is still an experience of the Crater of old. Far from the crowds,
tucked away and remote. The site is in the only place where you can watch the sun rise over the Crater, and set over the Serengeti.

#### ELEMENTAL AND WILD

The site plays host to all of Mother Nature’s most dramatic tricks. It can be cold, it can be windy and it can be foggy, but come
prepared and the reward is great. This is how it feels to really live on the edge of the world, right up close and personal with the wild of
these volcanic highlands. A lot of thought has gone into keeping everyone comfortable up here where the elements are king. Gas fired
stoves heat the rooms, fires warm the main mess and there are lots of cosy corners wrapped in sheepskin. The wind can be intense
depending on the seasons and we have adapted the design to limit any noise in the rooms at night, but it is important to be aware that
this experience is about feeling like you are on the edge, not about 5 star frills and fancies.

#### WALK THE HIGHLANDS AND MEET THE MAASAI

This side of the Crater is all ours and it is a real gem to explore on foot. Miles and miles of Crater highlands extend in front and behind
camp. Ancient Maasai cattle trails carve deep gullies through the umbrella acacia dripping in old man’s beard. We have access to a
Maasai boma where guests can meet our neighbours and learn about their way of life.

#### IT’S JUST US

Our camps are two of the smallest and most intimate camps on the Crater rim, with just seven rooms at Entamanu Ngorongoro, and
four rooms at Entamanu Private. It is all about seeing but not being seen up here with us, it is Nomad’s safari to the Crater.

#### THE FINAL PIECE OF OUR PUZZLE

Entamanu means ‘circle' in Maa and we chose this name as a nod to the Crater, and to the fact that our circuit of fabulous camps is now
complete. Entamanu combines perfectly with Kuro Tarangire, and our camps in the Serengeti, Lamai Serengeti and Serengeti Safari
Camp. Guests can fly between camps or drive with a private Nomad guide and vehicle for the ultimate experience.
