Luxury thatched cottages in the Lewa Conservancy on the slopes of Mt Kenya

## Profile

Lewa Wilderness is one of Kenya’s oldest private safari experiences. For 40 years guests have been coming to this remarkable region to be part of an adventure like no other. Those four decades have seen that passion passed down through the Craig family who proudly continue to run Lewa Wilderness today.

Lewa Wilderness is one of the original family homes and is still home to Will and Emma Craig, who treat all guests as family. Relax by the fire in the cozy sitting room and share meals around a long banquet table in the open-air dining room.

## Profile

Natural springs, home-raised livestock, and a 5-acre organic garden are transformed by skilled chefs into incredible, healthy and delicious food.

Six cottages are tucked into the hillside overlooking the valley, and three garden cottages are cozy yet expansive are set amongst the beautiful lawn, a lush oasis teeming with colourful bougainvillea and a vast array of birdlife.

And with a new electric game drive vehicle, Lewa is leading the charge in wildlife and environment-friendly game viewing.

## Activities list

Enjoy the wildlife in its most natural form, without the sound of a car engine or the sight of a road. Horse rides are available to all, from complete beginners to the most experienced jockeys.

With the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kenya and the diversity of scenery from open plains, rolling hills, valleys, escarpments and rivers, Lewa is a magical place to game drive.

There is nothing more thrilling than watching rhino or elephant grazing in the morning light whilst you are on foot, or following the tracks of a leopard. Walks can be as easy or as hard as you like.

The soft lulling motion of a camel fits in perfectly with the quiet and gentle landscape. Maasai guides will lead an ambling walk through the bush.

Drive, walk or horse ride to your exclusive campsite for the night and spend the evening at a simple but extremely comfortable fly camp. Hot bucket showers and cosy tents, or a mosquito dome option for those who want to sleep under the stars. Adventure in comfort.

A scenic flight is the best way to discover so much more from the sky. Take off from the lodge and fly to the snowcapped peaks of Mount Kenya, or along the tree tops to spot elephants along the river. For the true ‘Out of Africa’ experience opt for an open cockpit biplane, and weave through gorges which show off the beauty of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Visit the 'Shamba' ( Farm ) where all the fresh fruit and vegetables for the lodge are grown. Enjoy a 'Farm to Fork' lunch under one of the many mango trees.
