Day 1 - 2

Entebbe

This itinerary begins with the mandatory (due to international and internal logistic connections) overnight in Entebbe, just outside the hustle & bustle of Uganda’s capital, Kampala. A night at the wonderful Karibu Entebbe (which literally means ‘welcome to Entebbe’) is ideal for finding your feet and settling into your holiday.

During your stay

Depending on your arrival time you will either be able to head out and explore on the afternoon you arrive or early the next morning.

One amazing activity we highly recommend is a boat trip to Mbamba Swamps. The cruise through the swamps is stunning, plus gives you an amazing opportunity of finding the primeval iconic African Shoebill.

Days 2 - 4

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

This morning you will set off towards the mythical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, via a short and incredibly scenic flight. You will be staying in the south of the forest in one of our favourite areas. Nkuringo Lodge will be your home for the next two days.

During your stay

From Nkuringo there are many activities, but the main focus is of course to find Mountain gorillas. The hike from Nkuringo is spectacular, as you descend from the escarpment into the forest itself. It is certainly one of the more challenging hikes, but by no means ‘too hard’. You will spend an hour with a family of Mountain gorillas, ticking off one of life’s top-ranking bucket-list goals.

Days 4 - 8

Masai Mara

From one exceptional region to another, fly from Bwindi across to Kenya’s Masai Mara, home to one of the largest concentrations of predators in the world.

The Masai Mara is exquisite and offers a phenomenal level of game viewing, including the Big 5 plus so much more in what is a relatively ‘small’ area. Stay in the quiet, yet game rich Mara North Conservancy.

During your stay

Over the course of four days in the Masai Mara you will have ample opportunity to explore the area on game drives and on walking safaris, in search of endless quantities of wildlife.

You will also have the chance to spend time with local Maasai communities. Should you wish, the option of heading up in a hot-air balloon (at an extra cost) is also possible.

Days 8 - 11

Laikipia Plateau

To round off this wonderful, fun and adventurous itinerary, the Laikipia region of Kenya is perfect. While there is great game viewing in the area, particularly of wild dog, the main focus of your time here will be to let loose and have a huge amount of fun doing all manner of activities.

During your stay

Activities at Sosian include horse riding, camel-riding, kayaking, game drives, safari walks, fishing, water-fall jumping, river tubing, cattle ranching and so much more. Alternatively you can take the time to relax by the pool or play a set or two of tennis.

The lodge is a traditional farmhouse, packed with character, and often the scene of raucous dinners where stories are shared, and memories made.

Day 11

Departure

After a fantastic three days of activities it'll be time to head home, or if you feel as though you need a few days of doing nothing, the Kenyan coast is a short hop away.
