Okavango Delta Explorer

Experience the best of the Okavango Delta

This simple 6-night itinerary combines two of the most stunning areas of the Okavango Delta. With both water and land based activities, this trip provides the ultimate rounded delta experience.

What makes the delta so special to us is the sheer implausibility and uniqueness of the area. It is the world’s largest inland delta system, which should, in reality, be a very dry part of the Kalahari desert, but thanks to ancient tectonic activity is now a lush thriving ecosystem.

Extended this trip to include other parts of Botswana (such as the Makgadikgadi Pans), chill out on the beach, or explore Cape Town.

Days 1-3

Okavango Delta

Arriving in Maun you will be met and helped through to your first light aircraft flight, heading deep into the heart of the Okavango Delta. From the plane you'll have an aerial view of the water channels winding their way through palm islands, keep an eye out for herds of elephant as you go.

During your stay

Duke's is a really mixed activity camp in the north west of the Delta. Here you will be able to sink your teeth into safari in an area teeming with wildlife by going on game drives as well as mokoro (dugout canoe) and boat excursions.

The camp overlooks one of the main channels of water where you can sit and watch a whole host of wildlife come and go.

DAYS 4 - 7

Khwai Private Reserve

After an early morning safari from Duke's, you'll take a light aircraft flight south to the Khwai Private Reserve, to continue your safari experience in an entirely different, yet equally beautiful area.

During your stay

This area is known for its amazing wildlife sightings, and for the diversity of its habitats from vast open wetlands to beautiful woodlands. While on safari you may bump into large prides of lion, or packs of wild dog. The camp occupies a beautiful spot with amazing views across a lily-covered lagoon. There is so much to do here, you may well wish you could stay longer.

DAY 7

Departure

As your time in the Okavango Delta comes to an end, you'll fly back to Maun from where you can either continue your trip elsewhere, or start your journey home.
