From 'The Smoke That Thunders' into the Okavango Delta

This superb 14 night itinerary begins with two nights exploring the mesmerising Victoria Falls from the Zimbabwean side, before embarking on a long self-drive safari from Kasane to Maun in Botswana.

Spending time in both luxury lodges and sleeping in a tent on the roof of your 4x4, you will traverse the vast northern national parks of Botswana, fording rivers and arid deserts. By night, you'll share stories of your days of exploration around the camp fire.

This adventurous holiday is a great way to connect with the incredible countries of Zimbabwe and Botswana. You'll be sure to leave Africa with unforgettable memories!

Day 1

Victoria Falls

Ease yourself into the African way of life with two days exploring The Smoke That Thunders from the beautiful Stanley & Livingstone Lodge.

Spend time exploring the Falls, enjoying a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, flying over the Falls in a helicopter, or simply soaking up the atmosphere from the lodge...


Day 3

Chobe

This morning you will be transferred across to Kasane and onto Chobe for the start of your epic Botswanan safari. You will begin with two nights of luxury and suburb guiding from Chobe Game Lodge.

Make sure you ask lots of questions! You'll be identifying the animals and tracks yourselves for the next portion of your holiday.

Day 5

Savuti

Your 4x4 vehicle will be delivered to you at your lodge this morning and, after stocking up with provisions in Kasane, you will begin your epic self-drive safari through the Okavango Delta.

Over the next 5 nights you will be camping your way through the Savute and into the Khwai Community Reserve in the Delta itself. With every night you will become more and more accustomed to spotting leopards by day and listening out for the distant roar lions roar at night - an exhilarating yet incredibly relaxing experience as you lie there in your tent on the roof of your vehicle.


Day 10

Moremi Game Reserve

After 5 nights exploring the Delta from your vehicle, you will drive across to the luxurious Camp Xakanaxa. From here you will be able to head out to explore the myriad Delta channels by boat as well as on game drives, returning to the comfort of the lodge at night.

There'll be no competition for who has the best stories around the fire pit for these two evenings...



DAY 13

makadikadi pans

Following one further night camping on your vehicle on the edge of the Delta, it will be time to leave this phenomenal area for the final portion of your holiday - exploring the otherworldly Makadikadi Pans from Camp Kalahari.

Join the Zu/’hoasi Bushmen on bush walks, head out on guided game drives and night drives to discover the desert, admire the meerkats, or simply round off your holiday with your feet up in the incredible setting.

Day 15

Maun & Departure

As your incredible journey comes to a close, you'll drive back to Maun where you will had back the keys to your 4x4 at the airport before boarding your flight home.


This itinerary costs from £4,974 per person and includes 4x4 rental for 11 days, all game viewing activities, accommodation, park & conservation fees and all specified transfers. This cost would vary depending on the season travelled.
