In search of two migratory mammals
This fantastic 9-night itinerary through Zambia explores some of this countries hidden gems and most under-travelled regions.
Starting with three nights in Kasanka National Park, you'll have a fantastic opportunity to witness 10 million straw-coloured fruit bats descend on a patch of forest as they arrive from the Congo Basin, prompted by the prospect of ripening fruit.
You will then fly south for two nights exploring the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls. Finish this superb holiday with four nights of mesmerising safari in the Liuwa Plains National Park, experiencing the Blue Wildebeest migration.
Please note that due to the migratory patterns of these animals, we would only recommend this itinerary between October to December

DAYS 1 - 4
Kasanka National Park
Arriving into Lusaka, you will be met and assisted through the terminal to your short internal flight north to Kasanka National Park. From the airstrip its a short, if slightly bumpy, transfer to your remote bush camp in a forest of indigenous trees overlooking Lake Wasa.
During your stay
You'll have access to private hides close to the small patch of forest where the bats concentrate. During the daytime there'll be opportunity to see sitatunga and take trips out into the Luwombwa region.
At night, listen to the sound of hippo as they move through the trees and across the lawns in front of the lodge chalet.
DAYS 4 - 6
Livingstone & Victoria Falls
Following three days of immersive exploration in Kasanka National Park, you will fly south to Livingstone to discover the Zambian side of Victoria Falls from Chundukwa River Lodge.
During your stay
Activities from the delightfully cosy lodge include excursions on the Zambezi, sunset cruises, horse riding and time spent exploring the mighty Victoria Falls themselves.
DAYS 6 - 10
Liuwa Plains National Park
Fly from Livingstone across to the enormous expanse of the Liuwa Plains.
Located on the upper Munde stream, a site chosen for its sweeping vistas and complete wildlife immersion, you will be right in the thick of the impressive Blue Wildebeest migration as they traverse the plains in search of fresh pasture.
During your stay
The focus here is on game drives through the plains as you follow the wildebeest, but you won't be the only ones following. Where a migration goes, so do clans of hungry hyena and opportunistic lions.
DAY 11
Departure
As your amazing holiday comes to a close, you will fly back to Livingstone to catch your international flight home.
