Grootbos is a luxury eco-paradise showcasing the fascinating and unique flora and marine life of the southernmost tip of Africa.

This incredible ecosystem has an extraordinarily high diversity of plant species, of which 69% are endemic. The kingdom is typified by fynbos, a prolific shrub-land that is heavily dependant on symbiotic relationships with many of its animal inhabitants. It’s the stories of these relationships, the unique way that the fynbos reproduces and the infectious enthusiasm of everybody connected to the reserve that makes this place so memorable.

Through Grootbos’ two five-star lodges, Garden and Forest, and its sustainable projects with local communities, this private nature reserve is committed to the conservation to this most remarkable floral region.

Both Forest Lodge and Garden Lodge are true to their names, set amongst an eden of beautifully landscaped fynbos gardens and indigenous trees. Each lodge is a masterpiece of sophisticated and contemporary design, reflecting the breathtaking natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The clean lines, high ceilings and large windows frame and accentuate the incredible sweeping views across the rolling hills of fynbos and the whale sanctuary of Walker Bay beyond.

The wooden deck, terrace and superb pool area extend the interior space into the outdoors allowing sun seekers and nature lovers to make the most of the rejuvenating environment.

Consisting of 11 and 16 suites respectively, each one stylishly furnished with luxurious beds, spacious en suite bathrooms, separate lounges with cosy fireplaces and private wooden decks with spectacular panoramic views. The key difference between the lodges being Garden Lodge warmly welcomes children of all ages, Forest Lodge is reserved for the over 12's.

Grootbos is about more than just luxury accommodation and eco-adventures. Your visit directly contributes to the conservation efforts of the Grootbos Foundation as well as the development of sustainable nature-based livelihoods amongst local communities. It is this core philosophy of conservation linked with social development that has made Grootbos an award-winning world leader in responsible tourism.
