La Clé des Montagnes

The essence of La Clé des Montagnes lies not only within the exceptional attention to detail, exquisite finishes and superb location, but also in the breadth of experience.

Discover a sense of tranquillity, space, taste and style with the lifestyle of Franschhoek, made manifest at La Clé. Amidst vines and mountains is an experience to be savoured at La Clé Village and Lodge.

With professional chefs in our team, the cuisine is dynamic and fresh, from local-style 'braai's' to laden breakfast tables, personalised picnics, private dining and select Shared Table evenings.

La Clé Village

A collection of stylish rooms and suites across three Village houses, Manoir, Grange and Colonial, as well as Galerie, an ultra-chic 2-bedroom fully-serviced Villa. Each Village house is complete with a private garden, ample living spaces and pool. Guests come together at Manoir for exceptional meals hosted by our chefs to share in the valley’s culinary heritage.

La Clé Lodge

Nestled on La Clé des Montagnes’ second working vineyard in the centre of Franschhoek, La Clé Lodge offers expansive views, a tennis court, putt and chip lawn and helipad. Managed by highly experienced chefs with inspired menus, hearty home-style meals and finer dining options, join us to experience the lifestyle of Franschhoek and be enveloped by warm hospitality.

With design and finishes by Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs, modern styling meets the classic charm of a traditional Cape Dutch home at the La Clé Lodge. Flowing interiors, high ceilings and ample living areas are enhanced by charming accents and the rustic beauty of traditional materials.

Spend intimate time together at the Lodge in any of the five exquisitely comfortable en-suite bedrooms, or book it as a private Villa for a family and friends getaway.

Time your visit with South Africa’s Weather

Having such a diverse climate, South Africa is a fantastic country to visit all year round - it just depends on what you want to see.

With its typical Southern Hemisphere climate, the best time to visit Cape Town and the Winelands is in the summer between November and March.

The safari regions in the north traditionally experience summer showers between November and February, this can however be the best time for birding. The best time to visit for superb big game viewing is during the winter months between May and September.

To combine a visit to both areas, the best time to visit is during one of the shoulder seasons between Apr/May or Sep/Oct.

If you plan to whale-watch, the best time to visit South Africa would be between July and November during their annual migration from Antarctica to Mozambique. Peak calving season is during July and August.
