Strand Hotel Swakopmund

Strand Hotel Swakopmund is the perfect venue for travellers wanting to explore Swakopmund. This Namibian icon has become a popular destination resort for international, Namibian and SADC visitors.

The Strand Hotel Swakopmund is located directly on the mole (promenade) in Swakopmund, surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean, with direct access to the main beach in town. On the fourth side, it backs up to the town’s beautiful central park, through which it is a short five minute walk to the historic centre of this charming, German, Victorian era colonial seaside town, with all its shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.

With its extensive, unique and creatively entertaining Restaurants, Bars, Deli, Lobby-Lounge, Sea Facing Terraces, Beach Kiosk and state of the art Conference & Banqueting Center, all set on the Mole, a historic and iconic site surrounded by Ocean on three sides, the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is a social epicenter and destination in itself for all visitors to and residents of Swakopmund.

Arriving at the Strand is a dramatic experience as one passes through its 13m high and 9m wide Ocean View Atrium which travels right through the Hotel offering sea views at either end. Off this Atrium Lobby is Reception, consisting of three individual desks and an inviting open fireplace which rounds off the residential feel and warm welcome.

Every aspect of the Strand Hotel Swakopmund has been developed according to international four-star standards. It is very possibly that this property is to be the benchmark against which all hotels/lodges in Namibia will be measured.

Time your visit with Namibia's seasons

Namibia's seasons follow a typical Southern Africa pattern, however with the desert landscapes the 'wet season' is rarely wet at all. The cooler winter months do however offer a nice respite from what can be very warm summer months.

Namibia’s climate varies across the country. For the best game viewing in Etosha National Park, we would recommend visiting during the dry season between June and October.

November to February is the best time to see flamingos gather at lagoons in eastern Swakopmund. It’s also a great time to visit the Caprivi strip in the north.

Southern Namibia has a much more stable climate and receives very little rain throughout the year. When a rare downpour does start during summer between January to March, the thin, baked soil turns into a stunning blanket of green.
