Day 1

Windhoek

Depending on your arrival time, you may need to overnight at one of the great little guesthouses in the capital before starting your drive south into the Kalahari. Your 4x4 vehicle will be delivered to you, you'll be given a full briefing then be ready to hit the road.

Days 2 - 3

Southern Kalahari

After a restful night in Windhoek you'll begin your epic voyage through Namibia. Your first stop on the way south is the lush Kalahari Farmhouse located in the incredibly arid Southern Kalahari.

While this is just a one-night stop, it breaks up the long journey down to Fish River Canyon fantastically and will give you a really great first taste of Namibia’s impossible landscapes.

Days 3 - 5

Fish River Canyon

Today you'll drive to the very south of this vast country to Fish River Canyon. As you drive, keep an eye out for gemsbok, desert zebra and sociable weavers nests hanging off camelthorn branches, as well as some of the other incredible wildlife that has adapted to live in this harsh climate.

During your stay

Fish River Canyon is an immense ravine (the largest in Africa) which is peppered with fantastic walking trails, and a very good amount of wildlife. Two nights here will give you ample time to explore on game drives and walks, descending to the canyon floor with your guide.

Days 5 - 7

Aus

Now driving back north, you'll pass through huge swathes of wilderness on your way to Aus, for your next stop at the excellent Klein-Aus Vista Desert Horse Inn.

Wild horses of Garub, Namibia

During your stay

Head out to explore the fascinating old diamond town of Lüderitz, and the eeriely deserted Kolmanskop. The area around the lodge is absolutely stunning too. We recommend having a little explore to find the wild horses of Garub before finding a decent spot for a sundowner.

Days 7 - 9

Sossusvlei

Moving on, your next stop is further north in Sesriem. This will be your gateway to the Namib Naukluft National Park which includes the jaw-dropping sand dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei pan, renowned for its striking petrified trees set against the deep orange dunes.

During your stay

As the sun rises, join a guided excursion into the depths of the sand dunes. If you have the energy (or inclination) you can climb the biggest of them, or just wander among the petrified trees of Deadvlei. In the afternoon, take a walk though Sesriem Canyon. The surrounding scenery is well worth soaking up or take to the skies in a hot air balloon.

Days 9 - 10

Swakopmund

Your next stop is the town of Swakopmund for one night on the Atlantic coast. Its an amazing drive across here, passing through the Tropic of Capricorn, through some incredible gorges while keeping an eye out for wild horses and passing ostrich.

Sandwhich Harbour, Namibia

During your stay

Nestled among dunes and hugging the ice cold Atlantic waters, this town seem incredibly inhospitable to life. There are however plenty of activities to fill your time such as kayaking with seals, a tour of Sandwich Harbour or a Living Desert tour - a remarkable insight into just how many species can survive this harsh environment.

Days 10 - 12

Damaraland

You continue your journey north from Swakopmund, heading inland leaving the Atlantic in your rearview mirror. The journey will take you through the mountainous region of Damaraland, vast swathes of semi-barren landscapes broken by dramatic rocky peaks and granite boulders.

Desert-adapted elephant in Damaraland, Namibia

During your stay

Game drives head out in search of desert-adapted elephant and rhino around the Huab Valley. You can also self-drive around the region too. The Damara Living Museum and Petrified Forest are both nearby and warrant a visit too.

Days 12 - 14

Etosha National Park - Ongava Reserve

To conclude your Namibia adventure, its time for some safari. You'll drive through Northern Damaraland and into a private reserve in the central region of Etosha National Park, a vast salt pan that plays host to diverse wildlife.

During your stay

On the Ongava Reserve you can head out for game drives and nature walks with your guide. There is a ground level hide too, an ideal spot for some close-up encounters with wildlife big & small, passing through for a drink or a wallow.

Days 14 - 16

Etosha National Park - Onguma Reserve

Take the full day to traverse Etosha National Park under your own steam, stopping off at waterholes and grazing plains along the way to reach the eastern sector of the park and the private Onguma Reserve for your final couple of nights.

In the local Herero language, Onguma means, "the place you don't want to leave". This couldn't be truer of this stunning lodge.

During your stay

A final chance to enjoy a mix of game drives, bush walks, birding and star-gazing. Try you hand at some low-level photography by spending time in the Onkolo Hike or spend a magical evening sleeping out in the bush.

Day 16
